Is getting your child to brush his or her teeth a constant battle at your house? Sometimes it can be harder to get your child to brush their teeth than to eat their peas. One thing you can try is implementing a teeth brushing chart, so you don’t have to battle every night.

This type of chart can help children see their progress and earn rewards. It helps them set a goal and achieve it. There are many benefits to using a chart, whether it’s a chore chart to get chores completed or a toothbrushing chart to get kids to brush their teeth without a fight.

What Is a Teeth Brushing Chart?

A teeth brushing chart is a type of accountability and reward system you can implement to help your child remember to brush his teeth. Or at the very least, put up less of a fight to do so.

You can print it out so your children can fill it out. Or, you can do it with them and fill it out for them if you prefer.

Reasons To Use a Tooth Brushing Chart With Your Child

When nighttime rolls around and you are feeling anxious about getting your child to brush his or her teeth, here are some reasons you could benefit from using a tooth brushing chart.

Accountability

My kids are pretty good at brushing their teeth at night, but they are horrible about doing it in the mornings. Having a chart to remind them and get them to do it without you having to hound them all morning, is a great reason to have a chart.

They will want to remember because they get a reward for finishing their chart.

The Fight

Hopefully if you have a chart, you will have to put up with less of a fight when it comes time to brush teeth. You can make it so your kids don’t get to mark off their chart unless they brush their teeth willingly without a fight.

It might take a few nights to get used to it, but stick with it, and they should come around.

Setting Goals

I believe any time we give our kids an opportunity to set a goal, record it, achieve it, and then see the fruits of their labors, we in turn help them grow their confidence, believe in themselves, learn to be proud of themselves, and know that they can do hard things.

Floss

My toothbrush chart also includes a flossing chart. It is so hard for me to remind my kids to floss and for them to actually do it. Having a chart will hopefully keep them motivated and accountable.

Rewards

Everyone loves a reward! Your child learns that achieving a goal comes with positive consequences. Plus, it’s always nice to be able to spoil our children.

Stress

Hopefully having a chart in your home can help relieve some stress in you and in your child. When children take responsibility, most of the time, they will take the reigns because it makes them feel good.

So, they become less stressed because you aren’t hounding them. And you feel less stressed because you don’t have to fight them.

Using a printable teeth brushing chart can actually be fun and rewarding for a child!

There are so many benefits to having a toothbrush chart in your home. Your kids can learn self-discipline, achieve goals, stay accountable, and you won’t have to worry about fights every night before bed time. I mean bedtime activities are hard enough as it is.
