Letter tracing worksheets are the perfect activity for preschool or kindergarten-aged kids. Sometimes they might seem like too simple of an activity, but there are actually several benefits to them.

Below you will be able to download my fun letter tracing worksheets for your child. You can use them anywhere to help kids write and learn their letters. But first, let’s review how best to use these worksheets.

What Are Letter Tracing Worksheets Used For?

Letter tracing worksheets are great to help young kids learn their letters and learn to write their letters. It’s easy to get caught up in teaching kids about sounds and what the letters look like, but not teach them how to write the letters.

This is what happened to me anyway. I homeschooled my son through half of Kindergarten. I was so focused on him reading that we didn’t do a lot of writing.

When I realized this, we started practicing a lot more. I was surprised that he could read a letter and know the sound it makes, but he couldn’t write it. These worksheets are also just good practice for handwriting at any elementary school age.

What Age & Grade are Alphabet Tracing Sheets For?

These tracing sheets are perfect for preschool, pre-K, and Kindergarten students. This would be any child in the age range of 4-7. But, don’t let that limit you. These sheets are also great for kids who just need to practice their letters or handwriting.

How To Use Printable Letter Tracing Sheets

This is the best part of the tracing sheets because they are super easy to use. Let’s go over the simple step-by-step instructions.

  1. Print off the sheets. Pick the ones you want or print all of them. You can definitely print them in black and white, if you don’t want to use up your color ink.
  2. Get proper writing utensils. I recommend you use pencil with a good eraser. My son always wanted to use markers, but it never turned out well.
  3. Let your child move through the pages as he or she wants. You don’t need to have your child trace the letters of the alphabet in order, or even finish a page. Just let him or her go through the letter tracing sheets how he or she wants.

My son loves tracing letters! Yours may not, and that’s okay. In this case, I recommend just encouraging your child to do 1-2 sheets per day.
