Q-tip painting has got to be one of the simplest, yet most fun painting activities ever. It is easy to clean up, and even toddlers can do it. I have created several different types of Q-tip painting printables, so I knew I had to make a Christmas one too.
Crafts and Christmas just go together. Q-tip painting is great for all ages (I have a ten-year-old who still enjoys it). It can help with fine motor skills and can be used in preschool classrooms or at home. Below you will find all the details on how to get your Christmas Q-tip paining printables!
Who Should You Use These Christmas Q-Tip Painting Printables?
My Christmas Q-tip painting printables are perfect for Christmas time for kids of almost all ages. You can use these starting at the toddler years all the way until your child is no longer interested. Just print them out, it doesn’t take up too much ink, and start dotting away.
This is a minimum prep activity, but it does involve paints. The good news though is you don’t need that much paint, and besides paint you only need a few more items.
Materials:
- Paints – any will do, but washable is always nice
- Christmas Q-tip painting templates
- Q-tips
- Paper plate or Paint Palette – you can find some small paint palettes at the Dollar Store
Instructions:
- After printing out the templates, put little puddles of paint onto your palette.
- Stick a Q-tip in each paint puddle. Whenever the kids want that color, they paint with that Q-tip. It might be hard for preschoolers to stick with just the Q-tip that is in that color, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
- Dot away until their heart’s content.

Why Is Q-Tip Painting Good For Toddlers & Kids?
Q-tip painting is great for toddlers because it introduces them to painting. It can help them learn about not making big messes and figure out whether they enjoy painting. Q-tip painting also helps them learn fine motor skills. It takes quite a lot for a toddler to match their Q-tip to the little circle.
