I think this ornament is super cute, and there are so many different ways to do it. I think this also makes a good adult craft. Every year we do an ornament together with the kids and hang it on the try. It’s fun to look back on all the ones we’ve done each year. Plus, each year they get a little bit better at doing it, haha.

The only difficult thing about this craft is collecting the bottle caps. I went to Michaels and Hobby Lobby to see if they sold just bottle caps, but I didn’t find any. I even asked an associate. If you have had any luck at a craft store finding bottle caps, let me know. I ended up buying some sodas and waited until we drank them all.

You can actually find them on Amazon for pretty cheap. They even come in assorted colors. In hindsight, I realize that that would have been a little easier, but maybe I just wanted an excuse to get soda. haha.

Here’s how we did it.

Supplies:

3 Bottle Caps (at least)
Paint (Especially the colors white, orange, and black)
Paint Brushes
Hot Glue and Hot Glue Gun (this is the one I use)
Ribbon, Felt, Pipe Cleaners, or Christmas pom poms (or all, you can use what you have on hand, most of these items can be found at the dollar store)
Black Permanent Marker (optional, you can either paint or draw on the buttons and eyes)

Instructions:

First, paint the bottle caps white on both sides. If there is a design on them, you might have to do a second coat. This is where the Amazon bottle caps come in handy.

After they dry, use the hot glue to glue the bottle caps together like a snowman. I had to make sure to hold the caps together for a minute to make sure they stayed.

Next, either draw the eyes, mouth, and buttons with a permanent marker or paint them on. I drew them on.

Paint on the orange nose. (I guess you could also use an orange permanent marker.)

Lastly, glue your accessories to your snowman. You can add a hat, scarf, or any other decoration of your choice. I cut out a hat from the felt and used a ribbon for the scarf. On the other one we did a pipe cleaner for the scarf and added a little Christmas pom pom.

Add a ribbon looped on the back so you can hang it up on the tree.

I wrote their names on the back and the year, so we know for later.
