Escape Rooms Are the New Kid on the Block—and They’re a Blast!
If you’ve never been to a live escape room, you’re in for a treat. They’re immersive, thrilling, and—best of all—teamwork makes the dream work. But let’s face it: young children often feel lost in a traditional escape room, unable to contribute the way they’d like. That’s why I created a Book of Mormon–themed escape room that you can run right in your home, classroom, or even entirely online. These printable—and digital—games make perfect activities for family nights, youth groups, Primary classes, or Book of Mormon study circles.
What Is a Printable Book of Mormon Escape Room?
A printable escape room is a “room” made entirely of puzzles on paper. You print—or project—clues around your space. Players hunt for each riddle, solve it, and move on to the next until they “escape.” No mysterious locks or props required—just print, hide, and play! And because this version is fully digital, you can also complete every puzzle on Google Forms. Clues appear one at a time, and you can’t advance until you crack the current code.
Why Book of Mormon–Based?
Every clue and puzzle draws on stories from the Book of Mormon—from the faith of the Brother of Jared and the courage of Ammon, to the teachings of Nephi and Alma. Familiarity with the text helps, but it’s not mandatory: puzzles are designed so that clever thinking, teamwork, and a willingness to learn will carry players to victory.

Physical Instructions
- Print out all the slides and the recording sheet (without the answers). Depending on how many children you have, you can break them up into groups, individuals, or one big team.
- You can run the activity in 3 ways:
- You can give them all the clues up front and have them record their answers on the recording sheet and then give them all to you at the end.
- You can give them one clue at a time. They have to give you their answer before you give them their next clue.
- You can tape them up around the room or house and have them record their answers on their recording sheet and give them to you at the end. They can do them out of order if doing it this way, the clues are not sequential.
- Before starting the activity, read the Escape Room situation to get them excited about the activity.
**Optional: Set a timer for 25-30 minutes.
Ask them not to ruin the activity for others by revealing the codes to them before they have a chance to figure it out.
**Optional: Let them use the Book of Mormon for some of the questions. (There are some you will probably have to)
Digital Instructions
- First, get a copy of the form by clicking on the link. This will copy the form into your Google Drive.
- You can work in groups, as individuals, or on a big team. Each team will need access to a computer or device.
- With the digital version, no printing is required. All the tasks are in the Google form. Each team will see the task and will need to enter the correct code before they get to the next task.
- You could still print out the tracking sheet, so they can keep track of their work. But it isn’t necessary, you can also use a blank sheet of paper for the workspace.
- Before starting the activity, read the Escape Room situation to get students excited about the activity.
**Optional: Set a timer for 25-30 minutes.
